Posted by u/Necessary-Disaster27 I Got Let Go At The End Of Work Today I'll try to make this short yet easy to follow as possible.

So before I left work today, my supervisor said to me that my boss (the general manager) had wanted to see me upstairs. I say ok and head up to see him. When I reach his office and hear his tone of voice, I
  • 04
instantly had my spider senses tingle. He asks me to "come in and have a seat." In my head I'm thinking, ok no biggie. I couldn't have been more wrong.
  • 05
Before I even sat down in one of his comfy office chairs he said all in one breath, "Effective immediately, were terminating your services with our company." I can see in his eyes he's dead serious. He continues, "I'm

going to have you return your swipe (key fob) and you have until the 14th to return your uniform and if you have anything in the office below, we'll have someone collect it for you. If not, Ms Jane here (the third party I'm assuming,

who was already in his office when I got there) will escort you out of the building." At this point I was rattled beyond belief, as I couldn't think of any possible reason as to why this was happening, so when he finished speaking I asked him as polite as possible,

"Ok, can I ask why...?" His response: "We no longer require your services is all." I thought to myself, wow even while being short staffed. So that's how I became unemployed in 30 seconds.

EDIT: Wow I didn't expect to receive so much support and similar stories to mine in such a small space of time, thank you to everyone who's commented, with either productive or even unproductive comments!

Much appreciated. I'll try to add a bit more context just to clear things up in the most impartial way possible. 1 - I was hired as a Customer Service Rep at a Courier Service on full time hours (I don't believe I was full time, never clearly stated even after asking).
  • 11
2 - I had been at this company for roughly a month. 3- When I started, I realized after the 2nd day that I was never asked to sign a contract, only payment and insurance papers.
  • 12
4 - I found out I was on probation 2 weeks into the job, as it was never clearly stated until I had my first 1 on 1 meeting with my supervisor. (Obviously I assumed I was on probation as with any job from minute one, found out just a week ago that probation was 3 months

only because a new girl started working and asked) 5 - My supervisor AND GM have both stated to me on a few occasions that out of any new person that's started I've had one of the best starts as far as being able to operate at the company, learning and adapting very quickly

beyond expectations. 6 - I have no criminal history or anything that would jeopardize any sort of security vetting process. 7 - I've always made my time, never been late nor done any action that would break any form of protocol.
  • 15
8 - My supervisor has stated many times verbally how reserved I was (not whether it has bothered her or not, I assume now it def has. Very nit-picky, light switch up and down personality. Very regularly had unpredictable mood swings).
  • 16
9 - I'm not the most talkative person, (not shy) and never got into the workplace gossip being I was the only male in about a group of 7-8 of us in total. 10 - I witnessed & faced numerous amounts of verbal and even physical (1 instance) forms of harassment in my short

stay, although never reported it to the Manager or HR because he and the supervisor have a very Wizard of Oz, flying monkey dynamic & 2, there literally was NO HR.

Purple_Syllabub_3417. 3 days ago I am retired from HR (sad but true). 90% of firings are personality related. The termination file will state that the fired employee was not "the right fit" or other BS.

Sometimes someone's relative or friend needs a job so workers get fired to make room. Both of these su... If you had no clue about why they let you go, then assume it is one of the above. I am sorry you went through this.

Adventurous_Winter29. 2 days ago Agreed. I was fired for my personality because my manager definitely told me that "my performance is not good" and wouldn't elaborate further because the truth was they simply did not like me. I wouldn't hang out after work at

community events, I didn't want to come on my day off for a retirement party, and I just wanted to make my money and leave. Didn't care to have them invade my personal life and just smiled at everyone/said good morning, good night.

Mobile Moment3861 2 days ago Introverts often get targeted in American workplaces. It's not enough to put your head down and do your job well, you have to pretend to be a jock/cheerleader type rather than a nerd type. High school cliques all over again.

    ● TwoKingSlayer 2 days ago this right here. I got pushed out of my job because I came to work to actually work and not socialize. I was told I was not a team player because I did not volunteer to work charity events and company events. These were the same managers who promoted the guy who

never worked and hid in a cubicle and breakroom on his phone. When alot of people complained that he was promoted with that work ethic, management told us that those were actually good leadership skills because he delegated his work to others and found ways to free his time. Clown show.
